FAQ

What is Seagus?
Seagus is a Franchise Broker representing over 150 top franchises.

What is a Franchise Broker?

A Franchise Broker is to franchises like a Real Estate agent is to houses. Our goal is to match buyers with a franchise offering best suited to their budget, goals, lifestyle and several other key factors. By helping clients explore aspects they may not have considered on their own, and by skillfully uncovering strengths and weaknesses we maximize the possibility of financial success and personal satisfaction for our franchisee clients.

How much does your service cost?

The same cost as a buyer pays a Real Estate agent! The Franchise Broker service is free to buyers as we are paid a commission or referral fee when we match a buyer with a franchise.

How do I know you won't sell me a lousy franchise?
One of the benefits of being a franchise broker is we represent hundreds of franchises. That gives us the complete freedom to match you with the perfect franchise rather than trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. A good franchise broker will also be on top of all the latest industry trends and be able to advise you of best performing franchises, new franchises, and possible changes within the market that may affect you.
Additionally the internet is a small place. Companies engaged in unethical practices won't last long. Reputation is everything and we take ours very seriously.

Why would I use a Franchise Broker?
There are several ways a good Franchise Broker will help you. First they can steer you clear of any franchise scams or "questionable" franchises. Not a day goes by that we don't hear another story of a person who bought "that" franchise again only to be completely disappointed. Franchise Brokers know the industry, know the best franchises, know the lousy ones, and know how to match you with the right franchise.
Secondly it just makes sense to look at more than one franchise. When you shop for a house you don't usually look only at one – yet so many people today engage the franchise company directly and do just that. As Franchise Brokers we try to stay neutral matching the person to the franchise rather than the other way around.
Thirdly having an experienced person with you throughout the process can be a major benefit. If the franchisor is asking or doing things that make you feel uncomfortable or you have questions about your broker can act as an intermediary to try and smooth things over, or possibly even move you to another franchise.
As the service is completely free, using a franchise broker seems to be a logical choice.

What is the Seagus Franchise Buyer Money Back Guarantee?
If your franchise fails within a defined period Seagus will refund a portion of (or in some circumstances the entire amount) of your franchise fee.
Each franchise carries a varying refund eligibility amount based on a number of factors. Your own suitability for the franchise will also play a small part in determining the final figure.
Refund amounts are typically 20% at the low end to 100% at the high end. Contact your Seagus representative for further details.

Does a smaller refund eligibility mean a riskier franchise?
Absolutely not. We use a number of factors to calculate and minimize our own level of financial risk however the overriding factor will ultimately be related to the referral fee we receive from the franchisor. Obviously if we we receive $1000 we won't guarantee $10,000. As this is a new program we don't have hard statistics yet on what works best for everyone. We hope as time goes by we will be able to offer 100% on all franchises.

Should I base my decision to buy on whether franchises have higher or 100% money back guarantees?
Absolutely not. The franchise fee is often only one small variable in your overall start up costs. In some cases your real estate costs, equipment costs, territory fees etc. may far exceed your franchise fee. Even in situations where this is not the case it still makes little sense to select a franchise only for the reason of a guarantee in the unlikely event of failure. A franchise should be a labor of love. A lifestyle change that brings contentment and satisfaction into your life.
The guarantee should be considered a little insurance policy that can be kept at the back of your mind in the event the unthinkable happens. It should not be used as a criteria in selecting your franchise.

Why do you offer a franchise money back guarantee?

We thought that the money back guarantee accurately represents the confidence we have in our services. It is one thing to say we match clients with the best franchise, but completely another to actually put our money where our mouths are.
Why should we still be paid if your business fails when part of the franchise brokers mandate is to ensure a positive outcome?
Seagus believes the guarantee brings a higher level of accountability to us as Franchise Brokers, gives potential franchise buyers an added degree of confidence in uncertain times, and provides a bit of added security if things go wrong.

Which Franchises qualify for the guarantee

Any franchise listed on our site that carries the Seagus money back guarantee icon qualifies.

I don't see my franchise listed – can it qualify?
If your current prospective franchise deals with brokers you can have them contact us to have us assess whether their franchise system would qualify. If their company history and business model is solid we will list them, and you subsequently could then receive the money back offer by buying through us.
